Wide fender flares wheel arches for MITSUBISHI PAJERO (MONTERO) 2-DOOR 1991-1998 MK2

Category:

This set of arches (4 pieces) are made for the MITSUBISHI PAJERO (MONTERO) 2-DOOR, year 1991 – 1998, second generation (MK2). They stick out around 8 cm, so they will cover well if you have oversize tires. They are only good for the model that comes without flares and side fairings. If your car has the original flares and side fairings you cannot install these. They will not cover the holes that will be left on the sides when you remove the original plastic arches and fairings.

These flares were developed on the canvas model, which doesn’t have the small rounded indicators on the front sides. If you have the saloon model, the flares will cover a small part of the indicators. You will need to trim the flare a bit where it fits over the indicator, which will still be visible on it’s most part.
They are made of good quality, hand-laid fiberglass and the surface is black gelcoat, mat textured. Make sure your car is the model described above and shown in the photos. If you are in doubt, send me a few photos of your car showing the front, sides and back. I will reply  and let you know if it’s the right model.
The pocket style flares were originally designed to be fitted by drilling and screwing through the flare pockets and into the side of the vehicle. But since most car owners are reluctant to drill holes on the sides of their cars, we have developed another way for installation.
Each arch can be installed by drilling and screwing self tapping screws through the underside flange and sheet metal strips which are fixed on the fiberglass. The flanges of the flares touch the car wings flanges only at the ends while at the top they remain about 2 cm lower than the car wing flanges and are fixed there by sheet metal strips. To install, removing the adjacent wheel is recommended, so that you have enough space to use the drill. The help of another person is needed to hold the flare in place while the installer drills and screws.

The front flares are designed so that they fit clear of the lower edge of the car wing. This was done to make sure the over-wide tires do not rub on the rear end of the flares (look at the photos).
The arches are best installed by a professional or an experienced amateur. This is a difficult to install item. Don’t  try this yourself if you don’t have enough experience.
We include the necessary screws, washers and rubber trim.
